If you are looking to enhance your career opportunities and interested in the conservation and development of Church of England parish churches – 310 listed church buildings in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire alone - this evening to launch our Early Careers in Conservation programme is for you.
This brand-new initiative has been developed to encourage and support careers in conservation and is aimed at conservation architects and surveyors; conservation officers; people who have recently completed a building conservation course; other heritage professionals and craftspeople. We are keen to encourage those early in their career to find out more about this sector, the work that is done by volunteers in parishes to care for and develop their church buildings, and the role of the Diocesan Advisory committee (DAC). We hope this will help to increase diversity and to encourage the continuation of traditional and craft skills that are a vital part of maintaining historic churches.
This exciting programme will be a mix of CPD events and participation in the work of the DAC to enable networking and engagement with various aspects of the DAC, including the informal meet and greet launch event. This evening will introduce you to the programme and provide an opportunity for attendees to meet members of the current DAC, trades and crafts people crucial to the maintenance and repair of church buildings, and others interested in participating in the programme.
